Alendronic acid is a bisphosphonate that acts as a specific inhibitor of osteoclast-mediated bone resorption.
It is used in treatment and prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis & treatment of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis in men and women, Paget's bone disease in men and women, and to increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis.
